In Ireland we Live in Castles
Update from Ireland for anyone out there still reading this.
Im sitting in my hostel right now in Dublin, recovering from a heavy night out drinking while Sasha and Claire are doing some exploring. Its hilarious to look back through my pictures since a disproportionate amount seem to involve some sort of alcohol. Sasha and I arrive on March 17th, St Patties Day, when everyone is Irish for a very crazy night. We started off with the obligatory Guiness and the night went on from there until we finally hit our bed at six am. We mainly stayed in Temple Bar area of Dublin in this great pub playing life traditional Irish music and full of equal part Dubliners and foreigners. Since the prices to stay in Dublin were a little heafty we left the next day for the second largest Irish city, Cork, which is on the South of the Island. Its a beautiful little city with a great University and a sparkling river running through it. It is also in close proximity to Blarney Catle, and the great tourist epicentre of the Blarney Stone. Despite many Irish people telling us they piss on it after hours, we gave it a kiss and explored the grounds while still trying to recover from our St Patties day.
After that we headed to the much smaller little town of Kilkenny where we were lucky enough to stay in a 12th century castle with a ghosts, a preganant dog and two other Canadians. It was a very awesome place to stay, despite it being bitter cold!
Finally Sasha and I headed back to Dublin to meet up with Claire who was flying in from a long trip from Canada. It was so exciting to see her out front of Trinity College and weve spent the last few days exploring Dublin which included at least four hours in the Guiness Brewery and more sober persuits such as listening to a beautiful choir in St. Patricks Cathedral.
Ireland is beautiful, the people are friendly and have a great accent.
Much love from all three of us, I will try to post some pictures eventually! Our next stop is Belfast.
Caitlin
